BVC students embraced Engineers Week with a visit to MSD Ireland's pharmaceutical plant. Students were given a tour of the facility which stands on a 65-acre site on the outskirts of Carlow town. This was a wonderful learning experience into the research and production/operation of this plant which produces vaccinations for a host of medical conditions. Students got to engage in a virtual reality game and also learned about the range of employment opportunities available in this multimillion euro facility. A great day was had by all participants who also embraced the challenge to design and make a bridge. This test yielded a range of interesting designs, most of which passed the test to support a specific load. Special thanks to Ms. Finn who organised this event. Thanks also to Paul, Yvonne, and the guides and Engineers who gave presentations on the day. A great morning was completed with a pit stop in Mc Donalds on the way home!
