Bunclody Vocational College Awards 2022
Bunclody Vocational College hosted an end of year awards ceremony with a difference this year. Due to the growing numbers in the school, the school gym was not big enough to accommodate all the students so there were a number of Awards ceremonies throughout the week of the 23rd May, culminating in the Sixth year Graduation and Awards on Friday 27th May
The awards ceremony included an illustrious and varied list of awards to present, reflecting the enormous amount of work undertaken by students and staff during the year. The awards presented ranged from academic and class awards to JCSP, Merit and Enterprise awards. Attendance and sports achievements were also recognised.
This year the different awards were renamed to reflect the Ethos of WWETB schools, Bunclody Vocational College being one of those schools. Accolades were awarded for: Excellence in Education, Care, Equality, Community and Respect. While there were numerous Excellence in Education awards there were also awards given out to those who show a love of their subject (Spirit of Awards), those who show a great work ethic and those who have contributed to the Care, Equality, Respect and the School Community (Aitheantas, Solas and Class Spirit). There was a year long initiative to encourage students to read more and a number of students received Gold, Silver, Bronze and Book Worm Awards. BVC was also part of the Creative Schools programme this year and many students were awarded Creative Engagement Awards.
School Principal Mr Jay Murphy reflected on the year just gone and on the enormous effort and dedication shown by pupils and staff, during what was an especially challenging year. He thanked the Parent’s Council, the Board of Management, the Student’s Council the staff and students of BVC for all their hard work and support throughout the year. He commended the Leaving Certificate and Junior Certificate Classes of 2022 for their diligence, hard work and resilience in the face of many challenges over the last two years and he wished them well in their exams in June. He commented on the range of awards given out over the week and commended all the students for their contribution to school life at BVC.
