Science Week

What an exciting science week we are having here in BVC! As well as our usual fun packed week of science activities, we have major news to announce …. Leah Coleman, 5th year, has made school history yet again, as her entry has been accepted into the BT Young Scientist competition again this year. This is the first time that any student in BVC has represented the school twice. Leahs project is titled “Real-Time Analysis of The Effect of Lockdown on Post Primary Students in a Deis School” Leah surveyed the students in BVC several times during lockdown focusing on stress levels and relationships in the home and with friends. You can visit her exhibition virtually in January during the young scientist competition to discover her interesting findings.

It has been a busy start to the school year here in BVC with the introduction of Physics Chemistry to our Leaving Cert program and the science department is going from strength to strength. Our Science week events this week include a cell model display and competition by 1st years, a whole school photography competition, quizzes and our favourite activity … a mystery dissection.

As Science week draws to a close, TY Horticulture finish the week with our annual “In November We Remember" wellbeing initiative. Every member of the school community is invited to write the names of loved ones who have passed away onto a heart or star shaped piece of paper and to place it on our remembrance wall.
